What to do with a milled intake manifold?
While performing a cam change, I would like to bolt on a Performer RPM manifold that will be used with my qjet.
My concern is that the RPM intake was previously milled .050 in order to fit on a set of milled heads. The current heads are non-milled (just a resurface) 7k3's. Is a "thick" intake gasket available that would help this manifold seal ? I have heard of running a double intake gasket, but not sure of the success rate.... Any suggestions? Thanks. |

I would not use the manifold. Others with experience in double gasketing may chime in. To me, it's a recipe for trouble. A factory Q-jet intake is hard to beat, BTW.

I agree, performance on the factory manifold is pretty good from everything I have read. I was only thinking of saving some weight (assuming the RPM flows as good as factory), and since I already had the manifold...
By the way, anyone had experience with the Proform Aluminum Roller Rockers that sell for about $170? Looks to be a good low price option if they hold up ok. |

I had a similar problem with an older Offy intake a few years ago. I can't recall the exact name, but I believe it was a Mr. Gasket brand gasket that I bought from Summit that solved my problem. I didn't realize it until I started to bolt up the intake and the bolt holes didn't line up.

I'd check alignment with the regular gaskets first. Then if you have a problem Mr.Gasket makes .125" thick gaskets.
