Bench seat door panels
I guess I should have stated in my original post that my 72 GTO came with different door panels than what are standard for bucket seat cars. Could not edit the original.

You should have just added your answer to original post....it will get to messed up if you start a new one again....There should be no difference on a GTO's door panels whether it came with a bench or buckets...Now if you have a non GTO door panel, that's another story...can you post a pic of them?

markvecc,
Your door panels are correct for a '72 GTO. And yes the door panels that you have are not available as a reproduction panel in the PY catalog. Your door panels are the ones that came with the standard Lemans interior. Should have a GTO emblem on the door panel. Remember in '72 the GTO was an option on the Lemans so you got a standard Lemans Bench interior. The other door panel (the style that you see in the PY catalog) is the extra cost Lemans Sport interior that you could get in a GTO as well. That door panel has a pull strap and does not have a GTO emblem. Hope that gives some clarity to your question. |

Hey John, If the GTO came with a bench and standard interior would it have had the Lemans door panel emblems? They didn't put the '71 style GTO emblems on in '72 did they? Or would they just have not put emblems on them? This isn't the first bench seat GTO we have seen with Lemans door panel emblems!!!
Lyn.

Bench seat door panels
Hey guys,
GTO4door hit the nail on the head. You describe the door panels that came on my 72 GTO to a "T". As near as I can tell, they most closely resemble a 68 door panel and do have GTO emblems on them with no door pull straps. The emblems do not look like 71 door emblems though. I will get pic's and post them next week. Thanks for your help so far. |

This is a great site to look at interior info as well as GT-37 info.

I stand corrected...not much of a '72 GTO guy, and should have let the experts decide...sorry about that...

My '72 GTO has the standard Lemans bench interior with the extra cost morrokide vinyl seats and it has the GTO emblem on the door panels. |

So what does the 72 door panel emblem look like? I put one in from a 71 in mine, just because I like the look of it.

I know this is a VERY old thread but I can't find anything else that is more current. I hope you guys are still around..... My question is: I have a '70 GTO that I've owned since 1979 and it has "Lemans" emblems on the inside of the doors. The car is a proven GTO that was built at the Fremont plant in California. I believe the panels are original. How can this be?
