500 Percent Ammo Tax?
June 23, 2009

Q: Is Obama planning to increase the federal tax on gun ammunition by 500 percent?
A: No such proposal has been made by the Obama administration. And nobody in Congress has introduced any bill to increase the 11 percent federal excise tax on ammo.

Obama cant "pass" anything by himself (in secret or in the open).

He also can not change IRS tax code by himself.

A search on Google will show current H & S bills ,and whats true.

The other side posts this crap up so gun owners will freak out and repeat it everywhere (like on a car site)

It gets picked up as gospel and spreds like wildfire.

They sit back and laugh. Shows gun owners/sportsman in a bad light.

STUARTS site link above is a great source to check facts.

There is currently no legislation in the pipeline, but many expect that to change after the 2010 elections. I'd suspect the first to go would be an ammo tax of several hundred percent, it would probably be the easiest to pass, after all, the "Hunters" may only go through 50-100 rounds a year, versus someone like me who hits 2-3K a year easily. California's new ammo regulations are troubling as well, lots of nutty stuff starts there and gets introduced nationwide....

I've seen others predict the same regarding after the 2010 election. A lame duck has nothing to lose....
