Aeromotive fuel pump question/extra 3/8 NPT outlet?
I bought this pump from a member awhile back. On the inlet side (flat spot below the blue A/N fitting) there is another 3/8NPT outlet that is not plugged. Should that be plugged? I am running a bypass regulator at the carb.
Thank you,

It could be the return port, some models return the fuel right at the pump back to the cell. This way you would have a short return line from the pump to the cell and one feed line running to the engine. fwiw JD

I dont think it's supposed to be a return, but I could be wrong.
IIRC on those pumps that's where the internal bypass mechanism is supposed to go. Might be the bypass assembly was pulled and not replaced??? Even the instructions from aeromotive are extremely vague on that deal... B.P. |

Probably just a pump seal, easy fix if they'll get you the parts.
They must hide the bypass assy. down in that hole, the visible threads kinda make it look like something is supposed to go there, but none of the info I've seen said anything about those being external bypass style pumps,so it seemed pretty obvious that hole was for some other purpose. I'm sure the guys @ aeromotive will help you out,I hear they have excellent customer service over there,IIRC there is a guy there that shares my first name (Bret),he's supposed to be the "go to guy" over there. Good luck with it. Bret P. |
