Ready to put the motor back into the car, just figured out i didnt order new motor mounts...................i have a 66 gto, are the mounts you guys using from ames the N226A, those look like the old ones i have.

I see they have the mity mounts, any better than the above ones.......

Better yet, what are you guys using, i got to get a pair quick, my old ones are 12 years old, not sure what kind of shape there in.

If it helps any, i have a 70 455 in the car...........but this is what i had in the car.

If you guys have some better suggestions, would like to hear them.

Do a search on Mity Mounts- some good discussions and options. The MMs are fine, but you are paying a fair amount for a bolt... you can make your own MM, but really need a counter sunk bolt on the engine side of mount. A regular hex head bolt head will interfere with the block.

Thanks for the info, did look up those korean beautys i have there.............at least in the pics the holes are round.............mine are no where round anymore, wonder how much stuff is moving around on me...........

would i be better off with one rubber mount and a solid on the other, forgot which was which on that deal...............would like to hear from others that have done this...........no race, just driving around.

Ames introduced new improved '64-72 326-400 A-body motor mounts in the last 3 years.

Ames also has the "torq lok" motor mounts N242A. That's what I'm using and no issues so far. The N242A and N226A are thicker than the Anchor Mounts.

I just put a set of Torq Lok mounts in with my new engine. I never had a problem with my old mounts - which were probably from Ames 20 years ago. They do seem to be beefier and hold things more snugly. I had to pry one side onto the frame mount.

Wish I stopped to take a comparison pic between old and new but I didn’t think of it at the time.

Thanks guys, i will check with ames tomorrow, or im never gonna get this motor in...........torq lok mounts are only a little more than the stock ones from ames..........

I put the Ames Torq Lok mounts in my car and they are great. High quality and they fit perfectly. Plenty of clearance between the oil pan and center link.

So question is anyone using these with a 455 that is not orginial to the year car.

They will fit. They will not fit an original 455 car frame stand.

As long as your 455 has 5 mount bosses on each side those mounts will work, in fact the note in the Ames catalog says that they CAN be used to install a 455 in cars earlier then 1970.

The new Ames motor mounts are excellent in my opinion, even the "stock" replacements are now every bit as good as OEM ... WAY better than the typical parts store pieces.

Hey, thanks again guys, seems like they are either good or trash...........will measure everything against my old ones, but im married to these now, no sending them back.

Learned my lesson on the trans crossmember i bought, $ 45 to ship from ames and $85 to ship back.............still not over that one yet. lol..........buy high, sell low, thats the way i roll lately

You`ll be good. All 455`s have the 5 bolt bosses.
