Usually you wouldn't have to worry about it unless you're doing something strenuous.

Have a tranny brake?
Run in low gear a lot?
Plow snow?
Etc...

No need to know. It will just give you somehting else to worry about. I disconnected mine so I don't have to look at it.

I remember when I sold my turbocharged 4 cyl S10. When I finally cleaned out the glove box, it had about 400 time slips in it. It got pounded on a lot (Had a clutch pedal). Did a lot of bracket racing in that truck. It's funny you post 1 time slip from 1 race that happens 1 time a year. Nothing personal Rich, look up through this post at some signatures. It looks to me like most of the people that are trying to help you are not "professional test n tuners" but people that pound their stuff every weekend. You wanna go faster and that is fine, but go out and go rounds with what you have first. I have a bigger and faster motor in the works for my junk, but it isn't going anywhere near the car until I have it running within a couple hundredths of itself over the course of a day with the combo I currently have.

The bottom line here, have fun with what you have got and I hope you get to what ever goal you have. If nothing else, you might have the nicest and most expensive parts to run 13's ever.

Chiiiit, My car was still apart this past summer and I probably made more passes this past summer, stealing the wife's car when I could, than he probably did in the last 4 yrs...
Hell I even tried 7.50 index racing with it one weekend when she was out of town. (which was a blast)
