Yikes, even on a daily driver 3 starters in 15 years is not a great track record. You guys hardly drive these cars so to go through 3 starters in 15 years on a car hardly driven doesn't say good things about the quality of that starter.

I have the RobbMC with the nose come for the simple fact that if the gear broke off I didn’t want it slinging around in my scattershield

Nice half moon! I was thinking along those lines; I also think I have the shimming figured out and may be able to test today...

Formulajones is on the money. I expect my starters to last for a decade or more at least.

My 2 cents on starters. You need a plain mini starter. The Summit starter is the one to get. I have had one forever, no issues. 166 $ and made by CVR. Multiple clocking positions.

Need some clearance, oil pan, headers and a lot of torque. The Powermaster Ultra Torque 9410NM has a lot of clearance, motor is lower, great design and a 4.4 ratio and a 3.4 hp motor. 324 $ This one would clear my Steffs pan. Even though it only has 2 clocking points.

Or Robb Mc. When I buy a new starter it will be one of these with pinion support.349 $ You can spin the motor anywhere you want, pinon support, made in the USA. Looks more plain Jane than the others, who care. The folks there are great to deal with. Old Mallory/Erson guys in Carson City.
I do not know the ratio or the HP of the motor, will find out.

Most of the others are the same starter, Anytime you see only 2 clocking holes, motor placed high, they are kinda the same starer. Powermaster(except 9410NM) MSDs have the motor mounted high. Do not like that. The MSD hit my pan, I sold it, kept the Summit.
The Pertronix starter looks like it has a lot of clearance.
Kinda wish I had kept the MSD though. Someday when I am a geezer I will be racing with my Canton pan and Hooker headers. It would fit then.

Just an FYI the RobbMC starters are Mitsubishi starters and the aluminum block is machined for different engine applications, which also makes the starter clockable.
If you ever need a solenoid for a RobbMC starter, you can grab them at any local auto parts store.

RobbMc starters do not use Mitsubishi solenoids. RobbMc solenoids are the same as stock Ford V10 starter solenoids from the early 2000's.

Funny cause you told me Mitsubishi last time I needed one. What's changed?

Now that I think of it I'm almost certain I have the old solenoid I put in that box up on the mezzanine. When I get a hot minute I'll pull it down and post a part number. It wouldn't surprise me if it has multiple applications. Maybe you guys could dig into that more.
