No, in the picture of the cap. I circled it. Looks like a chunk of plastic got bent or snapped off from the rotor. but like I said the picture is fuzzy, so maybe I’m seeing it wrong.

Sorry, I typed rotor when I meant cap.

Yeah, I see the plastic rib that you're talking about, you've got a good eye. Very hard to see the circle you drew due to my colorblindness....

I don't really see how the rotor terminal could have hit that since it's actually further away than the cap terminals. In other words, if the rotor was hitting the rib, it would have been hitting the terminals too. But, I don't know, maybe. It definitely hit something. Also, that rotor terminal is pretty thick and not easy to bend. I pressed on it pretty hard and it doesn't move. I'll have a new cap and rotor in a couple days. I'll have to take a very close look at them before I put it together. I may give DUI a call too and see what they have to say.

DUI says most likely the cap was not correctly installed and the engine was cranked. Must have happened at some point during the build process.

Amazing it's been running so well with the rotor looking like that.

No kidding. I think the reasons for that are that even though it was bent, it was very stable/solid in its new configuration and it appeared to be still making good enough approximation to the distributor terminals.

When I install the new cap and rotor, I'll have to adjust the timing. I'll start by retarding it approximately the same amount as the bend and go from there.

In the process of rebuilding the points type distributor for my 62. Installed the "composite" gear to be compatible with the roller cam. As this was an older distributor (from a 65 , 421, I had to drill the shaft to accommodate the roll pin.

Fender reinstalled. Been futzing with this off and on for the last few days. Gaps are not perfect, but way better than before.

I have to repair my leaking Quadrajet so I pulled it off and replaced with another 7040263 that I have. This new carb came from Quadrajet Power. I bought it last year and it's setup for this motor. I adjusted the idle mixture screws Gets 16" vacuum at 775 rpm. Not bad. I don't have my new cap and rotor yet but, I put it back together with the damaged ones so I could get the carb setup and so I could see where the timing was set so when I put in the new parts I know where to start. UPS will be here with the new parts later today so I'll do that tomorrow. Then I'll be back in business.

That's awesome. My carb from them should be here end of summer. Getting a 76 stick carb to replace the original Odd ball 75 q jet. Saving original for next owner.

Have a few chips on the car I wanted to get touched up, but the shop that painted the car sold to a collision chain and I can't find anyone with the brand of paint they used to paint the car. Took a hood scoop down to San Leandro Color to see if they could match it. She pulled out the old paint chip book to find the color codes. Kinda neat to see the slight difference in '68 and '69 Verdoro side by side. Of course mine was neither, but they were able to get something close that will work for the small chips I have to fill.

A local Porsche dealer has a cars and coffee event the first Saturday of every month so I took the opportunity to put a few miles on the Le Mans.

There was quite a bit of interest in the Tri-Power engine that a lot of people have never seen before.

Had my guard dog on duty too.

That is a beautiful color,
I've painted a couple of cars that color a 64 bonny and Todd Rehrs
63-LeMans. I used DuPont paint get the Nason it's cheaper in price.
You'll love the results.

Put a few more things under the hood on the way to getting it running again.

I have to issue a correction. I didn't realize how much my idle speed changed when I adjusted the mixture screws. I had it at 775 rpm, after the idle mixture was adjusted, the vacuum did go up to 16", but the idle speed also went up to 1000 rpm. When I decreased the curb idle to 800 it went down to 15". Still pretty good.
