Get the Mac’s Pivot Plate. Expensive but worth it, it’s nice to have around if you have another issue or it’s surely easy to sell later on.
I had it attached to the manifold center carb studs, this 1964 Tri-Power has the small base center carb. No problem holding up the whole shebang.
I did this install last night by myself in a few hours.
The key to making it easy was rolling the car forward instead of trying to push the engine and transmission towards the car. I moved the car forward by about 7 feet during the process. I had a couple of 8’ long 2x4s under the front tires to get the car up a little higher so the legs on the hoist wouldn’t hit the lower front A-arms, you can see one of them in the second picture.
Little by little I adjusted the angle and height, while inching the car forward, over and over. The only time I moved the hoist was to shift it sideways a few inches to get the engine on center when it was most of the way in.
Good luck!
