A 7.75x14 is about 27" tall.
Even your 255/45/17's are 1" shorter, not 1" taller, than the OE tires.
A 245/50/17 is 26.6" and a 255/50/17 is 27" tall and there are plenty of excellent tire available.
Your 245/45/17's are 25.6" tall.
