I just went through this with my 72, though I did 18's. Gto Tex's 66 looks awesome, but I think the tires are a tad short. I wanted to get mine so that they were close to factory diameter. If I were doing 17's, I think I'd do 245/50/17's in front and either 255/50/17's or 275/45/17's in back which are closer to stock height. I didn't think I could get 275's in the rear of mine, but it worked and looks great

Update... skip my suggestion on 275/45/17's, doesn't appear they make tires in that size! Definitely don't go smaller that 255's with those 9" wide wheels. My tire guy told me that the 275's I put on my 9.5" wide rear wheels was about as narrow as he would go
