Looks like the consensus is a rebuild, so it looks like the Catalina gets the back burner again for the moment since the truck takes priority and that will probably just get a junkyard transmission swapped in as a quick fix.

Anyone have suggestions on a good rebuild kit? I don’t need anything overly fancy. When the 400 gets rebuilt I might shoot for a little bit hotter than stock but nothing crazy. Just enough to have some fun on the highway. I’ve also seen a book recommended for rebuilding TH400s which I think is the one in the Ames catalog. Is that the one I want or does anyone have a different or additional book I should get?
