Stroking a Pontiac 400 is a great idea if you are looking for more power. Upgrading the crank and rods is a smart move. But the longer stroke is not resolved by shorter rods, rather the pin placement in the pistons is where the difference is made up, so you need to get the correct pistons for the crank you buy.
