"The 85701 Pontiacs lifter itself hasn’t been out that long, but the cartridge inside the new style lifters is from overhead cam engines so there are literally a million of those out there running for many years. Also they’ve been testing the LS version of these lifters for about a year both in engines on the dyno, on the Spintron and in cars.
We build and tested a couple of engines with them with no issue.
As with every part, it’s the engine builders call. We’ve had literally every part that we use from every manufacturer fail at some point, including Johnson lifters... "
