I hate adjusting 2nd gen glass. They fight you every step of the way. I find getting them to roll up when the door is closed to be the toughest thing to get right.
I do as others suggested above. Loosen everything, shut the door and line it up. Tighten from inside without opening the door. Gets you in the ballpark at least.
