I'll add a little more, since I don't have enuff money layin around to do what I'd really like to be doing.

The '69 Tempest 350 former Stocker I bought came with the dyno sheet, showing 434hp. You could back off on the CR, & with the correct cam, still make near 400 hp, IMO.

Because of less cubes & stroke, it would obviously NOT make the big low rpm torque of a 455. But, it could make good power up past 5000 rpm.

Hey, with hard street tires, how much low end torque can you stand, unless you just wanna make lots of tire smoke ?

Another option, which has often been mentioned on this site, is using a 350 block, but with a longer stroke rotating assembly. Most just say "Stroke it".

A very popular 350 stroker build was done by Ace Brewer. IIRC, he made 462hp with it. I'll post a link, if I can find it. It ain't cheap to build, now. BUT, it does use a 350 block.

PS: I'll add this, which I'm sure many here will disagree with. If anyone reading this, considers building a hot 350, & especially a strong 350 block stroker, I'd would NOT recommend using the last 350 block casting. IIRC, the casting number is 500810. I have one of these which was a '77 model. It still has the original 6x-4 heads & original intake. These blocks have the thin main webs, exactly like the webs of the weak 500557, 400 blocks. LOTS of these blocks have failed, when the thin webs cracked at the dowel pin holes. Every time this is mentioned, some will post about the huge power and many years of service they got when using a "557" block. So, use at your own risk. You have been warned !
