Lame. Sorry to hear. Well, I know a small hole in the cap does help moisture, but clean up with WD40 is going to take some time.

I suggest getting a new one, with vacuum advance, clean that one up, and sell it to offset the cost.

If you don't want to spend the money on the MSD unit, you can always get one of the Summit ones.

All the new ones are zinc coated, won't rust. For $185, and probably $80-$120 you will get back from the one you sell (if you clean it up well), it's a minimal investment. And you get vacuum advance.

Take a look at the spark plug on #1, see what it looks like, make sure it's firing and not loaded up.

Is there a PCV line connected to the #1 intake runner?
