Easier to 'RTFM' if one wants to get the complete rules?
Anyway:
To the original poster, it would be wise to call the track and ask about their helmet rules. Our track (at that time) required ALL racers to have a helmet. Quicker than 9 seconds (1/8th mile track) to have updated helmet.
P.S. Our track also had some extra helmets for racers to use for the day if they didn't have one.
