Put away the test lamp.
To wire up the ign for HEI [ great choice ], get the common 'Bosch' 30 amp relay. 4 pin version; although 5 pin is ok, middle pin is not used.
4 terminals 85, 86, 30 & 87.
Ground terminal 85. Remove ALL wires on the existing coil [+] terminal [ probably two ] & connect to 86. If the coil has a condenser under this terminal, discard it. From the 'Bat' terminal on the HEI cap, run a wire to 87. From 30, run a wire to either the bat [+] terminal or large terminal on the alt. Install a 10 amp inline fuse in this line.
Finished.
Not sure about the carb wire, could be for an idle sol.
