Talking My new 455 Build

Recently (should read: "Finally!") got the 455 up and running in my '65 GTO post car. Only has about 250 miles on it right now - due to change the oil tomorrow before putting any more miles on it. So far I'm extremely pleased with the Rhoads lifters, I'm running cast alum. valve covers and the noise is not excessive to me at all (like someone else said: sounds like a sewing machine). Waiting for Dave's small-body to arrive and my completion of the '66 TriPower before I can say "it's done" (powertrain).

1975 455 (heavy webbed) .060 to 467 cu. in.:
- 9.3:1 compression ratio
- zero decked, plate-honed, balanced motor
- ground off all interior flashing, smoothed exterior block surfaces
- 1972 "N" reconditioned crankshaft
- TRW L2359F forged pistons
- Sealed Power rings
- Clevite 77 bearings throughout
- Fel-Pro Gaskets
- Brass freeze plugs
- Melling M54D oil pump, welded 5/8" pick-up
- Cloyes Street/Strip timing chain set
- SCAT rods 6.625", press fit
- PowerForce harmonic balancer
- BOP rear main seal
- Stock HEI with adjustable VA and rev-limiter (awaiting a Dave's small-body)
5C heads:
- Self ported/polished/relieved
- ground for potential use of 1.65 rockers
- R.E.V. stainless 2.11/1.77 valves
- 3-angle valve cut
- Viton valve seals
- Comp Cams 995 valve springs (120 seat/310 open)
- Chrome moly retainers and locks
- Comp Cams chrome moly pushrods
- 7/16" Comp Cams rocker studs

- 228*Intake 235* Exh @ .050"

- .479/.494 w/1.5 rockers

Exhaust:
- Ram Air coated exhaust manifolds
- 2.5" mandrel bent with X-pipe
- TurboMax 17749 mufflers
- custom stainless splitters, exiting @ stock location
Transmission:
- totally rebuilt Muncie M20
- Super Case w/cast iron midplate
- Orig. Hurst Comp+ linkage
Rearend:
- totally rebuilt '67 GM 12-bolt
- bearing-retainer-ends welded on
- 3.31 positraction
- Tom's Kick-Ass axles
- boxed lowers
- rear frame supports
- polygraphite bushings all around
- rear sway bar (1.25" sway bar up front)
