What you don't see in that other thread are the deleted posts where people had gone beyond debate and were arguing and insulting each other. People sometimes forget (or ignore) the rules they agreed to when they joined the board. The administrator laid out accepted behavior in this post from one of the sticky notes at the top of the Lobby:
