The factory tunes in those things are weak. Most of the trucks come with a timing table that are in the single digits, and a WOT air fuel ratio that is pig rich in PE mode, usually around 11 flat. It's all to keep the engine safe knowing what the trucks are put through.
When I dropped that 6.0 in my blazer, it came from a 2005 3/4 ton pickup. Only thing I did to it was a custom tune, basically removing all the emissions stuff not needed for the swap, and dialing in the timing and fuel curve. Otherwise it was a bone stocker, and that thing would boogy for a 5300 lbs 4X4 truck.
