+2 for the Baldwin B-39 oil filter. It's shorter than most and full-flow without a check valve or bypass. It delivers the quickest response on your oil pressure gauge as well. I discovered them decades ago when Purolator quit making the shorter filter required to clear the Hedman headers on my Ventura's engine.

Before discovering the B-39 I tried several smaller filters often recommended on the Pontiac Forums and had issues with them. One actually failed inside some how and I lost oil pressure. Someone pointed me toward the Baldwin filter way back then and have been using them ever since on all Pontiac engines built here. I also block the bypass in the filter housing, but that's another topic that often gets varying info and opinions one way or the other.......
