I appreciate all those that have taken the time to help me try to sort through this.

I have decided I'll be ordering the Johnson lifters that Jay S linked in his post. It's time for me to move on from the plate and or dog bones and get things back on track. I like tinkering and understand its part of the hobby but I have spent 8 plus hours trying to fit the plate and or dog bones over the last couple of weeks, mostly on weekends or evenings and am not finding it enjoyable anymore. I spent probably 2 hours a couple of days ago starting over from square one on the plate after reading everyone's suggestions. I removed all of the push rods and tried to adjust the plate one last time and can't get it close enough to convince me with some more time spent grinding that its going to work and have ample margin for error.

I want to get the motor assembled so I can get the parts out of my shop and try to get caught up on work projects.

Thanks again to all those that tried to help.
