Shocks absorb shock that is why they are called "shock absorbers". They do not "hold up" a car. If your rear is dragging it is because your springs are shot. Air shocks, or worse, those springs they sell that go over your shock are a barn job bandaid and actually cause damage to the shock's upper frame mount which is not designed to take a load. Yes your car may have "factory" air shocks but back then they would sell a customer any thing they wanted. If you noticed, they stopped doing that.
