Johnny, Not sure if by you saying “primer” under the vinyl top you mean epoxy primer but it should.
By the way Chad also mixes Ultra 7 Base (Sherwin Williams) which I have found to be an excellent 1:1 base.
I had Solar red mixed in UB7 and painted a hood and it didn’t even need a blend on the tops of fenders because the match was so good. Been using the UB7 and cheaper line Dimension (2:1) for years now.
