-ALL bone stock original '69 Pontiac V8's used the "351" casting "short" 11 bolt water
pump.

-The first "tall" 11 bolt water pumps were not even cast till mid July of '69 (for early '70 model V8 Pontiac usage). If this later height of original water pump had been originally used on April, May, June, July of '69 built Pontiacs, it's use would have been documented by hard core restorers & specialty core providers/ pump restorers. Instead, the opposite has been documented on several very late production '69's.

-The Pontiac dealership service procedure eventually was to remove the "short" style 11 bolt pump & to replace it with a "tall" style 11 bolt pump AND the corresponding correct '70 model WP pulley. This service procedure worked fine on all '69 Pontiac V8's EXC '69 Firebird V8's, ESP on V8 Birds originally installed with 4 core radiator, factory 5 blade flex fan, & the tough to find spacer that was used in this application.
