Thanks for posting that, it reminds me of the last new car my mother bought, also a 79 4-speed GP, black with a tan interior, but hers had a black landau top, A/C, and rally wheels. Hers also had a gold pin stripe. She had a love/hate relationship with the car. Hated it was so slow, loved the manual transmission, hated the way the Saginaw 4-speed shifted, loved the MPG compared to the 76 455 powered GP she traded in. Hated the smaller trunk ect... She did drive it for 130,000 miles until it rusted out in the late 1980's. And she replaced it with a used low mileage 76 GP that was her last car.

Interesting the owner doesn't know that the GM Blue bolts of the era mean they are Metric! Black bolts are SAE. Those cars had a mixture of both. I remember working on the car replacing things like belts, motor mounts & the clutch. It seemed that anything bolted to the front or rear face of the engine used metric bolts, but the motor mount bolts were still SAE. It drove me nuts.
