The vehicle in question is 350 SBC powered as I’ve gathered from his previous posts.

A ‘55 Pontiac wagon is roughly the same weight as most well-optioned late 2nd gen T/As that didn’t have more than 180 to 220 hp at best. Most were running TH350 automatics and 2.41 or 2.56 rear gears so they really weren’t known for screaming out of the hole from a stoplight.

Perhaps a 3.55 rear would be better but certainly a 3.23 isn’t a bad rear gear for it.
