I have owned an Oshawa built and fully documented 455 RA GTO since 1989. I was fortunate enough to know Fred Simmonds who assisted me with further documentation of all 70 GTO's and included with my information package is the breakdown of Oshawa cars.

Total L75 with M40 Trans built was 1986 units. Of that 106 were built GM Oshawa. Total L75 with M40 and Ram Air option was 241 units. Of that 12 only were produced by GM Oshawa. I own one of those 12 cars.

Fred Simmonds also told me back in around 1990 that an L75 Ram Air car could have either Ram Air III exhaust manifolds or standard exhaust manifolds. My car had the Ram Air III exhaust manifolds but I have over the years seen these cars with both versions. Perhaps it was a plant thing ?

Hope this helps explain the rarity of the 455 with Ram Air.
I really appreciate the insight Quik70! Being in Maine and so close to Canada, I've ended up with 3 Oshawa cars. My 455RA unfortunately doesn't retain the original engine, but my 70 Judge and GTO both are #'s matching driveline. I've always assumed the Oshawa cars were rare, and information just as much!
