Default Inductive pickup test light

I have a no crank situation on my ‘62 Mercury and believe it’s a broken wire somewhere. Anyway probing 62 year old wires with a test light can be a challenge as they’re on the verge of being petrified. So I looked to see if they made an inductive pickup type test light. I’ve never seen one, but sure enough I found this-

Now a few questions. Anyone have something like this? Does it work OK? This one looks like a cheap piece of junk, so if you could recommend a decent one, that would be great.
Thanks
