Yes, of course you can add timing at cruise (or anywhere). You seem really hung up on the whole phone thing for some reason. (Can also use a tablet).
My 58 year old eyes can barely see across the room sometimes but I have no problem using the app. Really the only time you need to use the phone app is to generate the initial timing table and send it via Bluetooth to the distributor. After that the distributor works like any other. I do use the app while driving sometimes to monitor the situation or use the gauges, (have a phone holder on dash which I have no trouble seeing), but there’s not a requirement to even have your phone with you after the initial setting is programmed
