Copper, yes.
I go from batt to frame to block with 4g SGT grade wire. Copper crimp lugs with shrink tube. The frame point has a rivet-nut in it to ensure total contact. I connect to a bolt hole on the block.
Back of alt to that same bolt hole on block. (6g SGT grade wire)
Core support & fender to batt neg. (10g GXL grade wire)
Firewall to block. (8g GXL grade wire)
Body pinch weld in rear inner wheel well/rocker/floor pan area to frame, both frame & body using rivet-nuts. (6g SGT)
It is possible to have too many grounds. You can create 'ground loops'.
Never use 'hook-up' wire or generic parts store 'primary' wire. Use TXL grade wire in high heat areas, SGT for batt cables, and GXL everywhere else.
With quality wire, you can use 1 or 2 smaller gauge wire with no drop in voltage/capacity.
