I don't know about stiffer being any better, they do make a few different styles of intake gaskets and some are a bit flimsy in comparison.
I have noticed some different quality issues with Felpro on a more recent intake gasket purchase that caused me to buy a different set from AFR.

When the bolt holes were perfectly aligned all the intake ports were shifted over 1/4" !! That's not going to work.
