The 1966 #614 option
It’s been almost 10 years that this thread was started discussing the early emissions on the GTO in the state of California.
I’m going to speak more about the 1966 GTO factory equipped 3x2 BBL. with Automatic (YR) that was sold New in the state of California that required the #614 option.
For reasons unknown to me these YR cars were exempt from the A.I.R. “Smog” system.
Over the decades I have seen about a dozen ‘66 YR cars in various conditions.
I presently have folders on 8 of these cars as a new one just surfaced on an auction site.
I only know of two 1966 YR’s built with the #614 and they came out of the Fremont plant.
Below are these two cars with their POP. The codes are very interesting.
My research on several Fremont POP shows a number 4 indicates Rally I wheels which shows on both of these cars.
