Jon, believe the bottom pic you have is of a later 70's - 81 Firebird jack, have the original out of my '80 turbo SE,
-the jack mechanism on it is the same as the jack in your bottom pic, note the jack pad area is nearly horizontal, not at a 45 degree angle.
- on my '80 jack, the jack tube is square at the top & the bottom few inches are shaped like a trapezoid, to connect with its matching base. The jack tube measures 32 5/8" long.
I need to look at a few known original 76-78 Firebird jacks & confirm the date range on this style jack. have a bunch of original jacks to go through, bringing them all out & ID'ing them all is something I've been putting off.
