A good overall lube for a shifter is Würth HHS-K spray. It will adhere to surfaces so you can spray on top and sides of the levers/shims and it will penetrate and stay there. Same with the shifter bushings and lever bushings.

Factory assembly page shows they lubed at the bushings. On 65 tranny linkage, the nylon shifter bushings tend to wear out and the factory wave washers go missing leaving a sloppy and noisy shifter. $20 in parts and lube goes a long way to fix shifting problems.
