Default Windshield water stain removal

Not sure where to put this. Body maybe? Oh well. It will get seen here and people can laugh at my ineptitude.

My 50 year old windshield has some nasty hard water/acid raid stains. I’ve had some success before on a different car with white vinegar and 0000 steel wool but this windshield is having none of it. I went at it hard and those stains are just laughing at me.

I just bought a cheap glass polish kit that you use with a drill. Maybe I dented it a little? But it sure as hell isnt polished.

The glass is fine when you are driving in shade but man if you end up driving into the sun it’s downright dangerous. I need to fix it.

Any sure fire fixes for this? I was almost wondering if CLR would work. Open to suggestions.
