I'd look at some of the autocross compound tires then. BFG used to make an autocross and SCCA roadrace compound(roadrace slightly harder and needs a litle more warm up than the autocross compound). You could get them shaved 1/2 tread depth for better handling(tread block squirm). Yokohama also had some specific as well as Hoosier.

They all have a heavier sidewall for handling than the drag radial type. Ran high 12 before with them.
