The original engine harness was melted beyond recognition after the prior owner had a major carb fire...but the car still ran. I guess you can't kill a Pontiac with fire! Someone took the kickdown switch off of the gas pedal but the harness was still there under the dash. Crispy parts of the underhood wiring were also still hanging from the firewall in the engine compartment. And yes, the 72 T/A's used the gas pedal mounted kickdown switch, even on 4-speed cars. Shaker wiring became a whole lot simpler in 72, with a major reduction in extraneous switches, wires and brackets on the carb.
