Looking at my pictures and the ones above, it may be safe to assume that the originals are a yellowish color and the reproductions are more white.

The reproduction fillers are taller than the NOS or original fillers. When you set them in the valence, the reproductions will be +/- 1/4" higher than the valence. Once you see it you cannot unsee...
