The 389 is finally alive! Breaking in the cam went fine even with 135lbs seat pressure. The idle is a little rough at 800rpm but not extreme. Rpm in gear is 550rpm and vacuum is 14in/hg in...

I don't think so. The bores in a 455 is larger and the valves/chamber on 67 and up heads are more centered in the bores. The 350's needs the noches because of the small 3.875" bore.

The engine is already in the car. Maybe the cam is too big, time will tell. What helps is the Hydramatic transmission with really low gears. With 3.08 in the back and the first 3-gears in the...

I assume the first cam was the Crower 60919? The Voodoo 703 only has .495"/.505" lift with 1.52-rockers but has steep ramps. After break in the Lunati springs should have approximately 125lbs/305lbs,...

I plan to drive this car at least 3000 miles a year so I don't wan't a cam that wears out in a couple of years. I won't rev it past 5500rpm so maybe I should lower the spring pressure to 120lbs on...

Thanks for the replies Cliff and Steve. If the springs lose around 10lbs after break in I get 128lbs on the seat and 308lbs at max lift. I could remove one 0.015" shim to get 1.600" IH and have...

I had to shim the Crower springs down to 1.515" IH (2×0.060" shims) to get 130lbs on the seat and 302lbs at 0.500" lift with only 0.065" from coil bind. So I ordered the Lunati 73949 springs instead....

Yes. It's Icon IC9946 forged pistons, not the cast 8VR pistions. I choosed those so I can use aluminium heads or big valve heads later if I want to, plus they have a 10.8cc dish.
