I don't know of a way to square up the transition slots with the carb on the car. We always set both, the primary and secondary on the bench and start from there.

Thanks..... Interesting uncovering this history. The 13" switch pitch converters have these same welds but the 12" don't. I also can't say I've noticed them on aftermarket "furnace brazed" converters.
