My 370 c.i. hemi Pontiac still has the Milodon gear drive I installed in 1986 (retired the engine in 2001 after many 9,000 rpm runs). Simple to install, then forget it.

Finally got a good test run of the twin today....

Finally got a good test run of the twin today. The tune is close enough to see A/F ratios in the ballpark- 4.8 to 5.4 with a throttle hit. No unusual vibration or shaking. So I'll start re-installing...

I don't know about producing power, but I'm guessing it will SOUND even nastier than the four did. CR is up to 12.8:1 (from 12.4), and cranking compression is 180 and 170 PSI...

The coolant leaks showed up by just applying small pressure to the block/head coolant passages.
Still some work to go to test run it- starting with reorganizing the clutter in the shop.

It didn't take me long to decide to test-run it before installing it. I fixed a couple of coolant leaks yesterday, and then realized those fixes would have been almost impossible in the car!

The only mushroom tappets I've seen were aftermarket pieces for flathead Fords. Only the really serious guys used them- the rest of us didn't want to deal with pulling the cam to change a lifter.

"Shock" certainly seems like the greatest concern here. Maybe the magnitude of a "shock" is no greater than a driveline sees, but the number of shock events will be thousands (millions?) of times...
