Not really apples to apples comparison ...Trucks have 5 inch diameter aluminum shafts to handle the torque..I would guess your Chevelle has a 3.5?

The OP doesn't have an average street car. Take a good look at his combo used...to me it doesn't make sense to not ante up and put a full CM driveshaft complete with CM trans input and diff yoke....

One of the nice features of a 1350 diff yoke is the positive end retention of the u joint. There is zero chance of the u joint or shaft walking either way, plus it does not need to be over tight...

Pretty sure the 3 inch Chrome Moly is good for 1200hp maybe 1500hp.
What one has to watch out for is not to go over the rpm rating for the driveshaft.

The problem with just replacing u joints is you...

The problem with just replacing u joints is you still have old cast diff and transmission inputs. I snapped my transmission input..the u joints held up..also cracked the transmission case.
