I went from 6-8 MPG with a 850 DP to 12-14 with a Q-jet just like Cliff runs...since he built it...much better at 2.25 per gallon. Oh, and it runs better too!

I used the BHK "Black Satin" from Techline Coatings. It comes in a pint or quart can, you prep the headers with sandblast and acetone, then use a spray gun. Once it bakes on, you can't chip it off...

I can tell you how it works, since I make the drills for the kits. I take a 3/8" drill bit and grind it down for a length of 2-1/2" to .312, which is the size of the stock shaft bores on the primary...

I haven't had a chance to run with the CI intake and Cliff's carb yet..the 12.87@105 in my sig was with a T2 and a 850 DP, and 1.5 rockers(1.65's now, went from .470 to .517 lift on my ported heads)....

As far as perfect, there isn't one, but Cliff is pretty close. For a street car, it's hard to beat a Q-jet.

I had the same problem you did until I switched to 1/2" lines. I don't know if you want to do it or not, but here is what I did.

I dropped my tank, and had a new bung welded in the lower front...
