The screw has a 3/8" head as shown. Not surprising, I had one in my bin of fasteners that are from cars I stripped 20 years ago.

Yes, that is it. Now to see if I can weasel it in without having to disassemble much. Is it the same 1/4 " head like the screws that hold it to the gauge, or slightly bigger.
