If all cylinders are pumping 190-200 I doubt you have a lifter failure. With a lifter failure you would certainly have a dead hole or at a minimum one that pumps way out of range from the others.

Hughes does offer a full manual control 4L80 for those that don't want the controller costs, you just use a toggle switch for the lockup converter.
