What is your intended use for the car? I have a detuned '67 I installed a 2.56 gear in and it gets over 20 mpg at 80 mph and is a dream on long, cross-country trips. It would suck on the dragstrip....

3.42's never came in an 8.2 ten bolt. the best the OP could do would be to install a set of 3.55's or 3.36's. But with the stock M-21, why? If I were him, I'd enjoy the car as is, at least for now....
