Hey..

Well this distributor/coil is brand new from Skip White... but can try your idea. The reason I was saying the MSD box is that it seems everything I replaced did help bring me better results...

I understand but with the backfire gone which was happening very quickly I think I am past the timing no? WOuld the distributor being 180 off make it not start or would I be back to the backfire...

The distributor/cap/coil is brand new from Skip White... so I assume it to be good. WHen I replaced fuel pump, is the timing chain visible in that opening as I did take some pictures inside...

yes... i thought it was all in a line tho... the rotor points to #1 cylinder...#1 wire to the cap position in the same line... so rotor is in line with point/wire in cap which aligns with #1 cylinder.
